Learn how City of Columbus became a 2019 NPA Innovation Awards Winner with a creative parking project that increased parking space inventory 635%.
Robert Ferrin, Assistant Director for Parking Services, City of Columbus will outline the scope of this project, the challenges encountered and overcome, and the success that the city has enjoyed to date.
He will examine the Partnerships with Conduent Transportation, Parkmobile, and Genetec, to deploy a customer-centric Virtual Permit Program that created 13,500 virtual permits in its first year of operation.
And he will also outline how the city’s parking enforcement is now easier with the introduction of nine license plate recognition-equipped vehicles with a compliance rate of 90%.
This is a one-hour session with 45-50 minutes of presentation and remaining 10-15 minutes for interactive Q&A with attendees.

About Amanda Ford
Amanda Ford is manager of Policies and Strategies for the Division of Parking Services for the City of Columbus. She and her team manage on-street parking programs and implementation of parking management plans to increase access for residents, businesses, and visitors. Amanda played a major role in development and implementation of the Short North Parking Plan and the Strategic Parking Plan. Amanda and her team recently implemented the Downtown Parking Plan that added mobile payment to nearly 3,000 meters, adjusted meter time limits to meet demand and implemented demand-based pricing.
Amanda has worked for the City of Columbus for nearly 20 years. Before joining Parking Services in 2015, she worked as Assistant Director in Public Safety and in public relations for the Columbus Division of Police. She also spent many years working on traffic safety initiatives for Columbus Public Health.
Amanda is a graduate of Ohio University, and received her Master of Business Administration from Franklin University.
